Maximum residue levels for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2

Update

On 26 May 2023, the European Commission published Regulation 2023/1030 deleting the maximum residue levels (MRLs) for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2.

All Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2 treated products.

What is changing?

The active substance Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2 will no longer have MRLs.

Why?

On 7 September 2021, the Commission approved Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2 as a low-risk active substance. At the time, no specific MRLs had been set, so the MRLs were automatically set to the default level of 0.01 mg/kg. The strain is not pathogenic to humans and is not expected to produce toxins relevant to human health. The risk to humans through metabolites is negligible.

During the peer review of the pesticide risk assessment of the active substance Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2, EFSA (2020) concluded this substance is safe for humans. Therefore, there is no need to establish MRLs for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain AH2.

Timeline

This regulation enters into force on 15 June 2023 and is directly applicable.
