Maximum residue levels for triflumizole

Summary

The EU has reduced MRLs for triflumizole to the default limit of determination (LOD; 0.01–0.1 mg/kg) on all products, applicable from August 2023. There will be potential impacts on suppliers of tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, gherkins and courgettes.

Update

The EU has reduced MRLs for triflumizole to the default limit of determination (LOD; 0.01–0.1 mg/kg) on all products, applicable from August 2023. There will be potential impacts on suppliers of tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, gherkins and courgettes.

What is changing?

The changes to MRLs are listed in Table 1.

Why?

The approval of the use of triflumizole in the EU expired on 30 June 2020 and no applications for its renewal were submitted.

Timeline

The new MRLs will apply from 12 August 2023. For products imported into the EU before that date, the old MRLs will apply.

Recommended Actions

Suppliers of tomato, aubergine, cucumber, gherkins and courgettes on which triflumizole is currently used should seek alternative substances or adapt current agricultural practices to ensure compliance by October 2023.
