Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/937 of 10 May 2023 correcting Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 as regards the inclusion of ‘Phosphated distarch phosphate produced from wheat starch’ in the Union list of novel foods
Update
The European Commission has added phosphated distarch phosphate produced from wheat starch to the EU list of authorised novel foods. In error, this novel food was not included in the EU list when it was first established.
What is changing?
The novel food “phosphated distarch phosphate produced from wheat starch” (phosphated wheat starch) was authorised in May 2014 in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 258/97.
Why?
The novel food was left off the EU list by mistake when the list was first established. The Commission has now corrected that mistake by adding this food to the EU list of authorised novel foods.
Timeline
Date of effect: 31 May 2023.
Background
This Regulation updates the Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 which lists authorised novel foods. Further information on the novel food authorisation procedure can be found here. See Novel foods explained.
