219 notificaciones sobre productos alimenticios procedentes de 44 países socios de AGRINFO (Tabla 1).

¿cuáles son las principales consecuencias para los países exportadores?
Las notificaciones del RASFF pueden tener importantes repercusiones para los productores y exportadores. Es posible que los productos alimenticios objeto de notificación deban ser retirados del mercado o destruidos para evitar que se vendan y se consuman. Esto puede acarrear pérdidas económicas para los productores, los exportadores y otras partes implicadas en la cadena de suministro. Además, si se producen varias intercepciones debido a la contaminación —por micotoxinas, incluidas las aflatoxinas; residuos de plaguicidas; pentaclorofenol y dioxinas; contaminación microbiológica; colorantes de Sudán; rodamina B y toxinas vegetales—, estas pueden dar lugar a un aumento de los controles y a otras medidas. Acciones recomendadas
Para reducir al mínimo las notificaciones al RASFF y garantizar un comercio fluido con el mercado de la UE, los productores y exportadores de países no pertenecientes a la UE deben tomar medidas para garantizar la seguridad de sus productos. Esto implica aplicar medidas de control rigurosas en todas las fases de la producción, la transformación y el envasado para garantizar el cumplimiento de las normas y regulaciones de la UE; establecer sistemas integrales de gestión de la seguridad alimentaria (como el Análisis de Peligros y Puntos Críticos de Control —HACCP—) para identificar y abordar los riesgos potenciales a lo largo de toda la cadena de suministro; y mantener una documentación meticulosa de todas las actividades para permitir la trazabilidad y aportar pruebas del cumplimiento de las regulaciones de la UE.
Antecedentes
El Sistema de Alerta Rápida para Alimentos y Piensos (RASFF) se creó para permitir a las autoridades de seguridad alimentaria de la UE intercambiar rápidamente información sobre riesgos para la salud derivados de los alimentos o los piensos, lo que les permite adoptar medidas inmediatas para evitar dichos riesgos. El RASFF ofrece un servicio las 24 horas del día para garantizar que las notificaciones urgentes se envíen, se reciban y se respondan de forma conjunta y eficaz. La información intercambiada a través del RASFF puede dar lugar a la retirada de productos del mercado de la UE, evitando así los riesgos antes de que puedan causar daños.
La Comisión Europea debe informar a los países no pertenecientes a la UE si un producto exportado es objeto de una notificación, de modo que las autoridades y los exportadores de dicho país puedan adoptar medidas correctoras.
La base jurídica del RASFF se establece en el artículo 50 de la Legislación Alimentaria General de la UE (Reglamento 178/2002).
