What is changing?

The EU has revoked the authorisations of the following GM oilseed rapes:

  • Ms8 × Rf3 × GT73
  • Ms8 × GT73
  • Rf3 × GT73.

Products consisting of or containing these GM varieties are no longer permitted on the EU market.

Why?

These GM varieties were revoked at the request of the authorisation holder BASF/Bayer, who indicated that GM oilseed rape Ms8 × Rf3 × GT73 has never been cultivated in non-EU countries.

Timeline

This Regulation applies from 13 February 2026.

Background

These oilseed rape varieties were authorised under Commission Implementing Decision 2021/1391. That Decision is repealed by this Regulation.

Oilseed rapes Ms8, Rf3, and Ms8 × Rf3 remain authorised (see Renewed authorisation of certain GM oilseed rape varieties).

A list of all authorised GM products can be found on the EU’s GMO register.
