Update

This webinar provided a general introduction on why and how the rules on exporting honey to the European Union (EU) are changing, as described in the AGRINFO Guide – Exporting Honey to the European Union which helps honey exporters navigate the EU Regulations.

What is changing?

The context of the changing rules was explained, as well as the key requirements:

  • Exporting countries must submit a residue control plan to be listed
  • Since 29 November 2024, exporting establishments must be listed by their competent authorities on the EU TRACES website (see AGRINFO Webinar: Using TRACES)
  • Revised model certificates must be used
  • A new list of countries concerning the use of antibiotics will apply from 3 September 2026
  • Honey must meet food safety and quality standards
  • New rules on origin labelling will apply from 14 June 2026.
