What is changing?

The EU is discussing increasing the MRLs for prothioconazole as shown in Table 1.

Why?

Following an application for a change of MRLs by the producer of prothioconazole, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA 2020, 2023, 2026) concluded that the proposed amendments are acceptable for consumer safety.

Timeline

The new MRLs are expected to apply in the second half of 2026.

What is changing and why?

The European Union (EU) is discussing increasing the maximum residue levels (MRLs) for prothioconazole for the products listed in Table 1.

An application for a change of MRLs by the producer of prothioconazole was evaluated by the European Food Safety Authority, and the requested changes were found to be safe for consumers.

The new MRLs are expected to apply in the second half of 2026.
