The latest on EU AGRI-Food policies impacting low- and middle-income countries

Upcoming new EU rules on mineral oil hydrocarbons in food

In 2027 the European Union will introduce new rules to limit the presence in food of mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) from petroleum. MOH find their way into the food supply chain from the environment or during harvest, transport, or processing, creating potential health risks for consumers.

Producers and suppliers of cereals, rice, nuts, pulses, spices, dried herbs, cocoa, oilseeds, milk and dairy products, and animal/vegetable fats and oils will need to be aware of the new rules, and may need to take action.

For more information see the AGRINFO report on Mineral oil hydrocarbons in food.

To support your preparation, we are presenting a webinar to discuss what the EU intends to do and why, the potential challenges, and strategies for complying with the new rules.

The same content will be presented three times to accommodate different time zones. Each session will be in English with simultaneous interpretation into French, or Spanish and Portuguese, depending on the event selected.

There will also be an opportunity to raise questions on the topics presented – and to find out more about COLEAD’s AGRINFO programme.
